Create Your Most Powerful Year Yet
Winter. Darkness. Rest. It’s the time of year when our bodies and the earth naturally slow down and go inward. This is the time to step back, reflect on the past year, and plan for the future. On the winter solstice, December 21, the days start growing longer, and the light of the sun – the energy that fuels all life – starts to increase its power. This energy of growth, combined with the grounded, creative force of Capricorn (not to get too woo-woo on you), creates the perfect brew for setting intentions and goals that come to fruition.
The Natural Business Cycle demonstrates how nourishing ourselves through rest, reflection, and visioning during the Dormancy stage is as essential as the active and productive phases of our lives (even though we so often seem to forget this!). Rest and reflection is in service to both our personal development and the development of our businesses.
In my "Retreat Yourself" guide (new edition coming out in November 2016), you will find a series of reflection and planning exercises intended to help you tie the bundle on the last phase and get a fresh start on the new one. This process can take anywhere from two hours to two days, depending on the depth you wish to go into. You can do this for your business only, or broaden it to be a holistic practice encompassing all areas of your life.
I recommend doing this work between December 21 and January 19 to get the most support from the natural cycles.
(And, of course, if you’re interested in diving into a more robust version of this process in person in the Santa Cruz mountains complete with redwoods, hot tub and organic meals, join me for Replenish Winter Reflection and Strategy Retreat for Women Entrepreneurs).
It is so powerful and important to take a step back from our busy lives to reflect back, vision forward, and create a plan of action. So often, we get swept away by the momentum of life and its vast details. But this is the moment to give yourself a gift that will carry you through the year.
Let this process serve as your north star – it can guide you internally and externally through the myriad of possibilities, opportunities, challenges, and decisions that will come your way this year.
(Simple instructions on how to create a retreat experience in your home are inside).
Stay tuned for the new guide, coming November 2016!
